An 80, word thesis would take 9 hours to read, they have 3 minutes. Join us for an evening of smart entertainment and catch a glimpse of the amazing research projects that are being conducted on campus by ANU PhD students suitable for the whole family. The 3MT is an international competition for research students to showcase their research. Students share what their research is and why it is important in plain language for three minutes, with only a single PowerPoint slide.
Advanced Statistical Mechanics PHYS Each course has a compulsory first part, with a selection of optional units for the second part of the course. More details about this can be found through the links given above. At the discretion of the Honours Coordinator, students may be allowed to substitute for one or more of the courses listed above.
Research project The research project is largely undertaken in second semester, and is a single 24 unit course PHYS This opportunity to undertake original research is a key part of the honours experience.
The project is expected to be a substantial and original piece of research in physics, supervised either by someone in RSPE, or by a physicist who is working at ANU outside of the school for example in Chemistry or Geophysics.
The project mark is divided as follows: Dates Inhonours courses will start on the 15th of February and end on the 27th of May.
All assessment items including any exams will be completed within this period. There is a two week break from the 1st of April to 18th of April. Students are expected to work on their research project during this time.
Advice on how best to spend this time will be provided by the honours convenors and supervisors. Students will need to select their optional units for each course and communicate their choice to the honours convenors no later than Friday the 15th of April.
From May 27th until the honours submission deadline on the 27th of October, students will focus entirely on their honours thesis research.
Mid-year starts Students are able to commence their honours year in second semester. In this case, students will commence their research project on the 18th July, Theses will be required to be submitted before the commencement of coursework in Semester 1, with a due date of 11th February, date to be confirmed. What's New in Critical Lattice Phenomena?, Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University, 1/12/ Lattice Discretisations of Integrable Sigma Models, Mathematical Sciences Institute, Australian National University, 9/11/ Course Structure attheheels.com and attheheels.com (Hons) in Physics Physics is one of the most fundamental of all sciences, and is the basis of our scientific knowledge of the physical world.
